A Second Second Life Meet Up for the Gallifreyan Embassy and Doctor Who: Podshock

Back in November 2006, to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of Doctor Who, the Gallifreyan Embassy and Doctor Who: Podshock decided to use Second Life (SL), a virtual world social networking service to bring members, audience, and all fans alike together no matter where in the world they may live. Provided the person had a broadband internet connection and a computer capable of running the multi-platform software required to use SL, they could join in together with other fans meeting in a virtual environment without any regard to the actual physical distance that may lay between them. In 2006, it turned to be a wildly successful idea. One day; a 24 hour period was designated and a Doctor Who themed location on SL was selected for it. Hosts, James Naughton and Louis Trapani visited the event throughout the day which gave an opportunity for people to mingle, ask questions, talk, or whatever just as one would do at an off-line gathering event.

Due to popular demand, another event is now planned for the 16th of May 2009 (the general event is all day long, but there will be a specific event schedule to be announced soon) on Second Life taking place in the land of New Gallifrey and Katrina (clicking these links (SLURLs) will bring to their respective lands in SL). Once again James Naughton and Louis Trapani will be there throughout the day and the during the special event, and hopefully Ken Deep as well this time pending his work schedule.
