I Voted and Big Brother Knows It!

By Louis Trapani - Posted on 05 November 2013

There are times when I don't like photography.

Today is Election Day and I voted as I do each year. I went to my polling center around 4:45 pm (trying to beat the rush that comes at 5pm when people leave work, I suspect others had the same idea as it was very crowded for an “off year”).

Though earlier in the day I received one of those annoying robo-calls as everyone seems to get during the election season urging you to vote for or against someone or some ballot measure. This one was a bit alarming because it is suggesting that it knew I hadn’t voted yet.

Is Big Brother watching you on Election Day? Play the AudioBoo I recorded about it below to see… err… hear what I mean.

Fire Island was hit hard by Superstorm Sandy and the community is still struggling today to restore what was lost. This little winged friend visits every summer for the past three years. Okay, I can't be exactly sure if it is the same one or not and I doubt their lifespan would allow for it, but this winged creature (or one just like it) visits at least one day each summer, landing on the same spot on a long wooden railing (of two railings side by side). It stays for several minutes almost like he/she is watching me. It may fly away briefly, sometimes it will land on my shoulder or land on my hand, but it always returns to the same spot of the same railing. Each year I took photos of it. I have blogged about it before and compared photos from each year. It is hard for me to believe it is the same one, I don't think they live that long. Having said that, there is about 50 feet or more of wooden railing, why does it land on the same spot, on the same railing each year? Insert Twilight Zone music here.
